It was a long time coming.
Ben* had known about his wife’s affair for at least a year but decided to ignore it and pretend everything was fine.
He didn’t want anyone to know, and he fantasized that the affair would soon be over. He hoped everything would return to normal.
Even after the official request for a divorce came, Ben still deluded himself into thinking he could fix it.
It wasn’t until his wife announced she was moving into a new house that everything finally sunk in.
Ben came to his first session in pieces.
In sessions, he was able to get in touch with his feelings of rejection, failure, disappointment, and anger.
Together, we dug into what his responses to this situation meant about his own life choices and ways of attracting or repelling others.
Now, Ben is in search of his own vision of the world, that may or may not include a romantic relationship.
At the moment, he is more invested in being the present father he realized he wasn’t before.
